Q7 Profiles

Q7 is a brony funk band that was formed in early 2014 by lead singer and Keytar player Nathan Curtis (Quazar) and one of his best friends, Greg Quarter. All the members are bronies and voice their own 'OCs'.

Greg Quarter - Drums

Greg has been a friends with everyone in the band since the start of their secondary school years. He was always a fan of Bootsy Collins and this clearly shows in his percussion. He was also influenced, much like the rest of the band, by James Brown, Zapp, and other big name funk artists.

Greg also prefers to wear a mask while performing live and keep the focus on the content rather then the content creators.

Nathan Curtis - Lead Singer & Keytarist

Nathan Curtis (Quazar) is the mastermind behind Q7. Oddly enough he cannot read notes, (music notes) so therefore improvises on allot of tracks...unless he learns something by ear. He also wears a mask when on stage and believes that their audience should focus on the work they produce rather then who is behind the instrument. He was mainly influenced by bands like Gorillaz, Raydio, Sly & The Family Stone and Parliament - Funkadelic.

Alex Spinster - Bass, Guitar & Saxophone

Alex Spinster, the bassist, guitarist and saxophonist of Q7 is also a masked mystery. After being asked one day over the phone, Alex immediately accepted and was rushed into the studio. Q7 spent about a month looking for the right musician but, alas, no one seemed to enjoy Funk anymore or wanted to play it. Until Quazar consulted Alex. Working with Nathan in multiple drama groups outside of school, he had grown to love funk and it's origin. He often goes ahead and improvises with Nathan allot during some songs except for when they are playing a set track.

Alex's personal favorite tune from any of their albums is Funk Box. Seeing as he gets allot to do in the song and enjoys squeezing in and out of Nathan and Greg's percussion and Keytar riffs with his guitar solos. He bases his work in and out of Q7 on artists like The Supermen Lovers, Jamiroquai, and Funkadelic.

''''''THE SIGNAL'

'The Signal' is Q7's first studio album that incorporates Vaporwave and New Wave music into it's mainly Funk based tracks. Diverging from the norm, this album was mainly produced using synthesized and / or electronic instruments, making it the opposite of what Q7 believes in. Being set in an alternate universe, where Quazar, Alex and Greg are electronic artists with a funk twist, 'The Signal' is centred around the opposites of the band members and their beliefs about how music should sound and be produced.

'The Signal' was released on March 23rd 2016 and is currently available to purchase on Bandcamp.

Revolving around the twelve minute long track from the album, the single is a collection of ambient pieces all focussed on the story of one human as his cruise ship is sinking with warships awaiting the survivors outside. The single has been praised for it's dark lyrics, tone, and ambient instrumentals.
