Foresight is a friendly spirit bound to a magic scepter.
Background
For centuries, he has been an adviser to the Steed Knights of the Chess Table. He would give the knight advise when they need someone to talk to. He can also sense when evil is present.
He has the ability to detach himself from his staff for only a few moments.
Foresight also has the ability to link the minds/souls of individuals. He would change his shape and form, and show images.
Personality
He is very wisecracking and makes unfortunate comments every now and then. But he usually means well.
My Noble Steeds: Friendship is Might
Foresight has been a spirit from the Ungulate Sanctum who predicted the prophesy of Prince Comet. He was sent to Equestria after Prince Comet's slumber, and given to Sir Vision Slide, then passed to Sir Sheath.
Equestria Girls
In Equestria Girls: My Noble Steeds, Foresight is a help desk adviser working for the Knights of the Chess Table. He is a computer wiz and hacker who Sheath contacts through a phone or computer.
Other versions
In My Noble Steeds: Equestria Boys, Sheath brings Foresight through the portal to the alternate world. He turns into a talking laptop. He has discovered information about that world by being connected to the internet. He is based off of the Office Assistant, Clippy.
